Step 1: Download the Ringtone
Locate the .m4r ringtone file you've downloaded from the web. Make sure it's saved on your computer.
Step 2: Connect Your iPhone
Connect your iPhone to your computer using a USB cable. Ensure that you have the latest version of iTunes (or Finder on macOS Catalina and later) installed on your computer.
Step 3: Open iTunes (or Finder)
Launch iTunes if you're using a version before macOS Catalina or Finder if you're using macOS Catalina or later.
Step 4: Add the Ringtone to iTunes (or Finder)
In iTunes, click the "File" menu and select "Add File to Library" if you're on a Mac or "Add Folder to Library" if you're on Windows. In Finder, you can directly drag and drop the .m4r file into your device in the Finder sidebar.
Step 5: Sync Your iPhone
In iTunes or Finder, select your iPhone, which should appear in the left or top menu. Navigate to the "Tones" section under your iPhone's settings. Check the box labeled "Sync Tones" or "Manually manage music and videos." Select the ringtone you added to your library and click the "Apply" button to sync it with your iPhone.
Step 6: Set the New Ringtone on Your iPhone
After syncing, the ringtone will be available on your iPhone. To set it as your ringtone, follow these steps: Open the "Settings" app on your iPhone. Scroll down and tap on "Sounds & Haptics" (or "Sounds & Vibrations"). Under the "Sounds and Vibration Patterns" section, tap on "Ringtone." Your newly added ringtone should appear at the top under the "Ringtones" section. Tap on it to set it as your default ringtone.
Step 7: Test Your New Ringtone
To ensure that your new ringtone is working correctly, you can have someone call your iPhone or use another device to call your iPhone. Congratulations! You've successfully installed a custom ringtone on your iPhone using an .m4r file downloaded from the web.
